SamMonth2

Oh Sam – your second month of life was a lot less stressful than the first. Thank goodness for that! For me, the two most notable parts of your second month were that you started to smile and you started sleeping 4-5 hours at at times through the night. Hooray! On September 4th, while changing your diaper in the bassinet, with your tongue slightly sticking out of your lips, you cracked a faint smile when I called your name. Instantly my heart melted and I texted Daddy right away. It was a sweet little moment that I am not soon to forget. A few weeks later, on September 19th,  you started to sleep for longer periods at night….just in time, because this mama was about to lose her mind!

This month you ate and grew, ate and grew. Breastfeeding is going really well because you are more than 12 pounds! That’s up 3 pounds from last month – what!?! Although it is time consuming, especially when you are cluster feeding three times a night, I keep reminding myself that this stage isn’t going to last forever and that breastfeeding allows us to have special time together.

We continue to try to find our rhythm as a family of four. Most days Daddy takes care of big sister Rowan while Mama takes care of you. Big sister Rowan loves you so much. She is always asking to hold you or to help me change your diapers. Since she started school we haven’t seen many movies. Thats okay because we had a good run at the end of the summer. Yes, we watched Mission Impossible 5: Rogue Nation, American Ultra and Straight Outta Comptom during the last two weeks of August. Not bad for a two month old!

Notably, you also attended your first fall fair in Fergus. When you were awake,  you watched Rowan intently as she rode, snowflake, the pony, 8 times! Although we tried to introduce you to the farm animals, you decided that sleeping was better. Mama also thought this was a good idea and wish she could have curled up for a nap too! Ha!

In addition to all these different experiences, you also went through many physical changes. Besides the weight gain, you have kissable chub cheeks, eye lashes for days and are starting to put weight on your feet. Your relaxed, go with the flow personality continues to entertain us. We can’t wait to see how you develop over the next month!

Love, Mama
