Yesterday was a big day in the Forster Hunter household: Rowan attended her first day of Junior Kindergarten! Our preparation to transition girlie to school started many many months ago but practically speaking, these last few weeks of summer we have been causally dropping hints. From walking by her school, to playing in the playground and to reading stories about going to school, we have been aware that this day was on the horizon.
What we didn’t know is how Rowan would do….And from her mama’s perspective, she did really really well! Last Thursday Aaron took Rowan to tour her classroom before the first day. She met her teacher and got to see the space that she would be spending the next 10 months in. Aaron took pictures and then came home and made slideshow for her. We showed it to her on labour day and essentially she was so excited to go that she didn’t want to sleep. When we told she had to go to bed she thought sleeping in her first day outfit would be a good idea.
Rowan was happy and excited at drop off and pick up. In the morning, she confidently when into her classroom, put her things in a cubby and sat on the carpet to read a book. At pick the ECE told me that girlie had a great day, volunteering to help in music and gym. Go Rowan go!
